CHILDREN'S YOGA CLASSES

All of our childrens Yoga classes run for a maximum of 45 minutes so that every child can remain alert and focused. The Yoga classes are not competitive as each child works at their own level and Pace. Our classes allow your childrens imagination to expand whilst exercising, we always incorporating fundamental skills of balance, co ordination and concentration to improve posture, strength and flexibility. Yoga can help your children if they are suffering from symptoms of anxiety and nervousness as it promotes body control, creativity, self-expression and social interaction.

The age group for YogaBugs is 2½ to 7 years old and Yogad Up sessions are for 8-12yrs. Theses groups are then split in to 2½-4yrs, 5-7yrs and 8-12yrs. The Pilates Studio of Berkshire allows a safe and friendly environment for your children to partake in exercise under the supervision or our fully qualified experienced instructor.

YogaBugs class Structure

At the start of the class all of the children will be taken through a variety of warm up exercises to get them moving and introduced to the other children. They will then be told an exciting story to begin their journey through the session. They will be taught yoga moves that resemble the characters and animal in the story. This will guide them through the session along with fun games and songs. To finish the off and to calm there excitement relaxation will be taught by using visualizations and breathing techniques. At the end of the session they might be asked to draw a picture at home or shown a move to practice for the next session.

Yogad Up

Yogad up classes are for the older children who enjoy being active. This class is great for up and coming athletes or for children who might not want to participate in the more general sports. They will be taught yoga moves to improve balance, strength, flexibility and co ordination. Each class is fun and not competitive.

KidsPilates

Pilates is a fun and enjoyable way to teach children correct posture so they stand, sit and lay correctly. Painful backs and sore joints are familiar complaints heard by parents due to their childrens bad habits of slouching when sitting watching the TV or at school working at a desk. The decline in physical activity also means so many children do not partake in enough exercises, as result an increasing number of children are suffering from child obesity.

Pilates will help co ordination, balance and strength in a friendly and safe environment. The sessions run for a maximum of 40 minutes, you can start attending KidsPilates classes from the age of 5yrs right through to 14yrs. The use of small equipment like Fit balls, foam rollers and bands are some times used during the session to support or increase the challenge for the children. For the younger age groups animal themes and songs are used to guide them through the session with a short relaxation to calm them down before being collected.

For the older age groups our focus is correct postural alignment and strengthening back and stomach muscles to reduce the chance of getting back pain. We always combine relaxation into the sessions as the older age groups can maintain a calm quite environment to exercise in. When sitting all day at school the body becomes tight and stiff, Pilates can loosen the joints and stretch the muscles.

Our lifestyles are fast paced and very intense so it is no wonder the increased pressure put on children can cause stress and anxiety. Pilates clears the mind and energies the body whilst exercising, this will help maintain health and well being for your child.
